MA in Psycho-Spiritual Therapy

This is a two-year intensive course that is a combination of academic training, professional exposure and spiritual formation, towards the wholesome growth and transformation of the candidates. Upon successfully completing the course programme and the required practical experience, candidates will be awarded a Master’s degree by the Verita University of Nigeria, Abuja. Such graduates will be equipped to facilitate healing and give counselling support to persons across Africa, who are struggling with such issues of an emotional, psychological and spiritual nature, as depression, post-traumatic stress disorder, confusion, burn-out, mid-life crisis, addictive disorders, grieving disorders, suicide ideation, as well as sexual abuse. They could also serve as Therapists, Counsellors and Chaplains in several institutions, including colleges and universities, formation houses and seminaries, prisons, hospitals, and drug rehabilitation centres.
There is room for those who choose to simply “audit” the two-year course without the master’s degree.

POST GRADUATE DIPLOMA IN PSYCHO-SPIRITUAL TRAUMA HEALING

This programme is aimed at equipping Psychologists, Medical and Para-medical Workers, Social Workers, Emergency Service Workers, Functionaries of Security Agencies, Religious Leaders, and Sundry Human Service Volunteers, with knowledge and skills to provide trauma-informed counselling support to psycho-trauma survivors, including those suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder, reactive attachment disorder, disinhibited social engagement disorder, acute stress disorder, adjustment disorder, and other trauma-related conditions that may be comorbid with anxiety, depression, substance abuse, and aggression. In addition, graduates from the PGD programme would be useful resource persons in institutions such as hospitals, drug rehabilitation centres, prisons, schools and colleges, houses of formation, and human resource departments in various organisations. The programme will help candidates to effectively integrate theories, approaches and practices in psychotherapy and spirituality, and especially approach the human person as a composite being, with spiritual, psychological, moral, socio-historical, and cultural dimensions to his/her life. We believe that such an integrated approach to counselling will result in more fully healed and integrated persons, equipped to live out the rest of their lives with greater fulfilment. Besides, the PGD programme will adequately serve as a solid bridge for candidates who have no background in psychology, but who wish to proceed to pursue our master’s degree programme in Psycho-Spiritual Therapy.
